Paradise in the Overberg.

Peace Valley is owner-run and hosted by Liz and Iggy. It's built around the idea that the best kind of rest takes more than a comfortable bed.

See & Do.

Ocean

The southernmost point of Africa (47 min) in Cape Agulhas is definitely a bucket list item. Struisbaai beach (36 min) and De Mond Nature Reserve (35 min) are ideal for swimming, fishing or simply enjoying a day of sun and sand. Arniston is also worth a visit, whether to venture into Waenhuiskrans cave (33 min), or to get some pampering at the Ginkgo Spa (31 min).

Cuisine

Local highlights include Pickled Green and JD Bistro, both within walking distance. In nearby Bredasdorp, you can take a seat in an historic setting at Bredasdorp Square (13 min), or go to Mojo's Bistro (17 min) for hearty fare.

Wine

The Agulhas Wine Triangle is known for unique vintages shaped by ocean breezes and shale soils. In the direction of Stanford you will find Raka Wine (25 min), Walker Bay Vineyards & Brewery (35 min) and Springfontein Estate (41 min). In the Elim area, we recommend visiting Zoetendal Vineyards (35 min), Black Oystercatcher (31 min) and Strandveld Winery (36 min).

Nature

De Hoop Nature Reserve (58 min) is one of the largest and most celebrated nature reserves in the Western Cape, and Bontebok National Park (61 min) is great for game viewing. At the Panthera Big Cat Sanctuary (39 min) you can see lions, tigers and leopards up close.

Heritage & Community

Walking around the village, you'll encounter distinctive Cape architecture, and here and there a sheep or horse grazing behind a fence! The weekly Saturday morning market is excellent, right next to the Dutch Reformed Church, a national monument. Napier also hosts the annual Creative Napier art route in April.

Art

Napier is an artists' village. Local galleries and art spaces, all within walking distance, include Rewild Art, Studio98, the Osner Gallery and the Muddylane Pottery Studio. Some local artists also offer workshops and other experiences - be sure to ask us for recommendations.

Hiking

We are happy to share our favourite scenic walking routes in and around the village. For more serious hikers, the Grootberg Trail (18 min) and Heuningberg Nature Reserve (16 min) are good options close by. The Fynbos Trail (49 min) and Spookdraai Trail (42 min) are a bit further away but well worth the drive.

Get in Touch.

Liz and Iggy will be on hand throughout your stay. We have two friendly dogs, Senka and Tycho, who'll happily say hello but otherwise keep to themselves.

We're happy to help with tips on Napier and the wider Overberg — whether that's recommending a nature reserve, a wine farm, or to connect you with a local artist offering a workshop.
